2021 year of the Karst, 2021 a major step for Grottocenter

This is the  time of year to wish you a Happy New Year 2021, full of discoveries and explorations

As you know it ,  Grottocenter has evolved a lot  in 2020 and already offers some new interesting features.
In 2021, we would like to offer you  a more complete tool to search and find, share  and enter data related to Karst

This is why we have launched a crowd funding campaign  and we appeal to your generosity

The website http://www.grottocenter.org has been really active for a few months. This message is a quick overview of the project and will explain how you can contribute. The www.grottocenter.org web application is a worldwide database community dedicated to speleology and based on the wiki collaborative system. The project aims to list natural caves ; every caver can collaborate to the database. All the data on www.grottocenter.org is under the CC-BY-NC license which guarantees free access and free usage of the data for non-commercial use with respect of the authors’ rights. The software running GrottoCenter is licensed under the AGPL license; all source code is available on Github. This license is similar to the CC-BY-NC license but is better-suited for web-application. Caving expedition in Kyrgyzstan !

The Fund for the   Preservation and Exploration of Caves (FPEC) offer   cavers the opportunity to take part   project on caving research in almost   non-explored caves in Kyrgyzstan. In Kyrgyzstan   , the caving potential is huge. Almost all prospective regions are poorly explored or unexplored at all. Cave systems which were discovered previously require further exploration. In connection with this we think that the co-operation with colleagues from other countries with the aim to make joint researches in Kyrgyzstan may bring good results.   This year we are planning researches in the perspective regions of the Turkestan Range located in the south-west of Kyrgyzstan and associated with the Pamir-Alai Mountain system.             For the time being those regions are insufficiently explored and that provides good opportunity for the wide search of caves.    Besides, there i...
